Gantt Chart Date Field Mapping

The Gantt chart requires explicit date field mappings:

  1. Go to Portfolio Settings → Bookings Start Date → select the Jira field that represents the planned start
  2. Set Bookings End Date → select the Jira field that represents the planned end
  3. Click Save

If these are not set, the Gantt chart will not render bars for issues that lack the expected date fields.

Common Field Mappings

MappingRecommended Jira Field
Start Date"Start date" (native Jira field) or a custom Date field
End Date"Due date" (native Jira field) or a custom Date field

Troubleshooting Gantt Issues

ProblemFix
Gantt bars not renderingVerify Start and End date fields are mapped and issues have values in those fields
Wrong timeline datesCheck field mapping - a mismatched field (e.g., Created vs Start date) produces wrong bars
Bars rendering in wrong positionConfirm Hours Per Day and Working Days match your team's schedule

Tips

  • Configure Portfolio Settings before creating your first Gantt-based portfolio - fixing date mappings after bars are created can cause visual shifts
  • Use the same date field mappings as your organisation's existing project management process
